Address lookup migration to Datafordeleren

Two migrations at once: off DAWA and Dataforsyningen, and off REST. The rest of the platform was not allowed to notice.

Address and property lookups moved off DAWA and Dataforsyningen, which were called over REST, onto Datafordeleren over GraphQL, through cloud microservices and a rebuilt gateway that writes into the SBSYS database.

How it looked before

Address and property lookups were spread across DAWA and Dataforsyningen and called over REST. Two sources, two ways of asking, and a case management system built around both of them.

What was built

The lookups moved onto Datafordeleren, and from REST onto GraphQL at the same time. Behind the migration sits a set of cloud microservices, and the gateway that lands data in the SBSYS database was rebuilt from a small existing module into the service that now carries all of it. At the far end, in the interface, it meant rebuilding the address and ejerlav code lookups in A-sag, the records tool. I did not do it alone: Frederik Dupont, our student worker, took on a lot of the backend work with me, and Mads Højris worked with me on the frontend.

What it covers

Address and cadastral search, ownership records, and enriching land parcel data. In other words what a caseworker actually reaches for when a case concerns a particular address or a particular parcel of land.

The hard part

Changing both the source and the protocol at once, without the rest of the platform having to change with them. GraphQL was new to me, and the project was large enough that a long time passed before any of it could be seen working. When it finally ran, it felt like a win.
