A free, offline-first study companion for the Danish driving theory exam. 55 practical car checks, 167 official road signs, and timed exam simulations with zero tracking.

Why it exists
Preparing for the Danish driving theory test usually means paying for subscription services packed with outdated questions and tracking scripts. Furthermore, when studying the mandatory vehicle check questions (), reading a list is not enough: the examiner expects practical answers standing in front of the vehicle. TheoryQuest was built as a modern, completely free practice tool that runs seamlessly on mobile devices, even completely offline.
Three ways to practise
Learning happens in stages. The app provides three distinct modes: standard multiple choice for initial familiarization; a 'say-it-out-loud' mode that encourages active verbal recall before revealing the answer; and a timed exam mode with pass/fail grading mirroring the official test rules, where at most five mistakes are permitted.
Spaced repetition and offline PWA
To build lasting knowledge rather than quick memorization, the app uses a client-side Leitner-box spaced repetition system. Questions answered correctly graduate into higher boxes with longer intervals, while questions answered incorrectly return immediately to box one. Everything is saved to localStorage on the device. Because the entire application is an offline-capable Progressive Web App, learners can study anywhere without an internet connection.
Official vector assets and two languages
167 official Danish road signs were gathered as clean vector drawings and organized into warning, prohibition, mandatory, and information categories with plain-language explanations. Every question, explanation, and sign is translated into both Danish and English, making the material accessible to both Danish learners and international residents.
Automated test suite
With multiple quiz modes, spaced repetition boxes, and bilingual support, regressions can easily slip in. The app is tested end-to-end with Playwright, verifying answer flows, progress tracking, keyboard navigation, and responsive layouts across viewport sizes.
